eportfolios

The ePortfolio is a professional exhibition of student learning, an electronic filing cabinet that helps students see patterns and relationships in their learning.

Students deliberately practice 7 Skills for Lifelong Success as they create a portfolio.

7 SKILLS: Time Management, Organization, Task Initiation & Completion, Attention, Metacognition, Flexibility & Shifting, and Working Memory.

basics

Collecting and reflecting on challenging assignments pushes students to make connections, analyze their strengths and weaknesses, and "own" their education over time.

More than a transcript, ePortfolios are a holistic representation of student learning. They showcase critical thinking, collaboration, reflection, and effective communication.

Our approach to the ePortfolio is modeled after the burgeoning Salt Lake Community College program and a workshop taught by Kati Lewis, ePortfolio Coordinator.

how

Students use the Weebly platform. It's easy to drag-n-drop page elements. See the tutorials below.

In the "settings" tab, students are required to hide their portfolios from internet searches. They also use pseudonyms.

So how can you view the ePortfolios?

1. Ask the student for his URL.

2. Ask the student for his pseudonym, and click on the blue button above: "Student Portfolios." Password required.

3. Contact the school for a direct link and password, or wait until Family Days to receive it in your packet.
